Maintaining a strict schedule of good oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing and visiting the dentist regularly is the best and most effective way to keep your teeth and gums healthy and looking their best, protect your overall physical health, and avoid consequences such as gum disease and tooth decay.
Step 1: Place your toothbrush at a 45° angle to your gums.
Step 2: Brush teeth gently in a circular motion.
Step 3: Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of each tooth.
Step 4: Use the tip of your toothbrush to clean the inner surface of front teeth.
Step 1: Wind approximately 18” of floss around your fingers. Most of the floss should be wrapped around one finger, with the other finger taking up the floss as it is used.
Step 2: Use your thumbs and forefingers to guide about 1” of floss between your teeth.
Step 3: Gently saw the floss between your teeth while holding it tightly, then curve the floss into a C-shape against the side of one tooth and gently slide it beneath the gums.
Step 4: Slide the floss up and down, repeating for each tooth.
Oral hygiene should always be taken seriously. Taking proper care of your teeth and gums not only helps to maintain a bright smile, it also helps to prevent tooth decay and erosion, as well as the development of serious health issues in the future.
